Meet one of our all-star basketball coaches, Coach Iving P.! Coach Iving is based out of Miami, and focuses on the fundamentals of the game while making lessons fun and challenging. He believes that there is a direct correlation between how hard you work in practices and how easily you win games.

Tell us about your basketball career.

I played varsity basketball at North Miami Beach Senior High. In college at FIU, I played intramural basketball at both the North and South Campus. At the North Campus, my team and I won two championships. I have been a basketball skills coach since 2009.

Why did you decide to become a private coach?

I believe that there is a lack of fundamentals in the game of basketball nowadays. Players are only focusing on dunking and shooting three pointers. The mid-range game is gone. The effective moving without the ball is gone. Defensive principles and basic player recognition are gone. With all that said, I decided to become a skills coach to help players have a complete well rounded game, and bring these important skills to the next generation.

What can a client expect from a lesson with you?

A client can expect challenging drills and routines. They will find that my lessons are fun as well. I am a teacher at heart. I am very approachable and have an understanding of what players are going through when it comes to improving their skills. I like to work with client as a teammate as well as a coach.

Who is your favorite coach and why?

Greg Popovich is one of my favorite basketball coaches because he holds his players accountable and stars do not get special treatment from him. He is all about the team and not about the individual.

What is your favorite moment in your athletic career?

Intramurals were very popular at my university, and winning the two intramural championships has to be my two favorite moments in my athletic career.

Do you have any success stories from coaching an athlete?

I have trained an athlete that averages about 18 points per game for his high school team. I have trained a state champion winner who is getting looks from multiple D1 schools. Both of these players started with me when they were 15 years old and made great strides in their level of play.

Do you like any other sports?

Football and soccer.

What team do you root for most enthusiastically?

My local team, the Miami Heat!

I am a music producer and rapper.
